about

Object Relations is a slow and haunting rock song, with passionate vocals - it makes you want to cry and say “I don’t give a fuck,” at the same time. The title Object Relations, the second single released by the art rock duo Zoë & The Mischief, is a term borrowed from psychology, referring to the psyche of an adult as a reflection of the psyche of the child during early development. The song was written by lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Zoë Dearborn, who is also a therapist. Zoë’s lyrics are simplified distillations of deep concepts from psychology, spiritual philosophy and Zoë’s own brand — rebellious exploration of the human condition.

lyrics

I'm so small
You're so tall
I'm a shadow
On the wall

Where do we go from here?
This feels so old and near
I can't feel me in you
I need a point of view

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la

I'm somewhere
in the dark
You're on that platform
Making your mark

Where do we go from here?
This feels so old and near
I can't feel me in you
I need a point of view

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la

I'm in my heart
You're in your head
You're in the kitchen
I'm under the bed

Where do we go from here?
This feels so old and near
I can't feel me in you
I need a point of view

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la
